Museum of the World Ocean (20-25 min.)
The Museum of the World Ocean is the first comprehensive marine museum in Russia, located in Kaliningrad. It has expositions dedicated to shipping, marine flora and fauna, geology and hydrology of the world ocean, as well as a marine library and an operating ecological station.
The Museum of the World Ocean was organized on April 12, 1990. According to the Charter, the Museum of the World Ocean is a republican center for scientific research and scientific and methodological work in the field of studying the history of research and the nature of the ocean.
The Museum of the World Ocean has created the only Embankment of the historical fleet in the country, at the berth of which are moored: the largest research vessel in the world-the Vityaz Museum (1994), the only submarine in the country-the museum of the 641st project afloat "B-413" (2000), the only in the world, the space communication vessel "Cosmonaut Viktor Patsaev", which has a museum exhibition (2001), is the only fishing vessel in the country-the museum "SRT-129" (2009). The embankment of the historical fleet stretches to St. Petersburg, where the world's oldest icebreaker Krasin is moored, which is a branch of the museum (2004). The ships present the history of exploration and development of the World Ocean.
